Musical Polymath Wynne Bennett is a composer, record producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist who has been manifesting herself at the forefront of experimental pop and contemporary music.

It’s difficult to concisely detail Wynne Bennett’s extensive and diverse musical career to date. A conservatory-trained pianist, her music education started at Harlem School of the Arts. Her Kennedy Center concert piano debut at age 18 led to performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. 

Upon attending the Mannes College of Music and The New School in classical composition, she became one of the founding and touring members of  Brooklyn based band Twin Shadow creating their distinct synthesizer sound, writing and producing on critically acclaimed albums Forget (4AD)Confess (4AD), Eclipse (Warner), and Caer (Warner).   Wynne then turned her attention to records with artists like Serpentwithfeet, Kid Cudi, Nao, HAIM, Tayla Parx, Jamila Woods, DCKWRTH, and Goldlink. 

She was a featured producer and writer on Janelle Monae’s GRAMMY-nominated Dirty Computer (Album of the Year), which included the hit single “PYNK” feat. Grimes and an accompanying film that Wynne scored.

While working as an improvising accompanist for modern and ballet dance classes at Juilliard, Tish, Alvin Ailey, and Martha Graham, Bennett’s compositional style emerged.

Her film and television credits include Bama Rush (HBOMax), The Debutantes (NBCUniversal), Janelle Monae’s Emotion Picture: Dirty Computer, and additional music on Tales of the Walking Dead (AMC), and assisting and writing on Queens (Disney+).  Multiple soundtrack credits include I May Destroy You, Paper Towns, and Space Jam 2. Wynne’s score for the film A Plot, A Scandal (MUBI) is the adaptation of artist Ligia Lewis’s hour long performance work, premiering at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and currently showing in the 2024 Whitney Biennial. Future releases include Elephants (IMAX), Ms. Magazine (HBOmax), and the feature, Hurricanna.

The breadth of her other work ranges from innovative performances and compositions with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, to concert pieces for The Orchestra of St. Luke’s, music for DKNY/New York Fashion Week and countless performances worldwide. Other collaborations include work with Pete Rock, Slick Rick, Syd, Tayla Parx, Little Brother, Hudsdon Mohawk, Bree Runway, Jon  Batiste, Miya Folick, Joseph, Tank and the Bangas, Allie X.   With a strong foundation in thematic expression, and continuous exploration of fresh and experimental sounds, her bespoke scores push sonic and cultural boundaries that offer a unique global perspective.

Past collaborations and writing sessions include Pete RockTori Kelly, Syd, Sebastian Yatra, Jon Batiste, Allie X, Blitz the Ambassador, John Forte, Hudson Mohawke, Guillermo Brown, Sabrina Carpenter, NAO, Emily King, Ashnikko, Lizzo, Joy Oladokun, Mickey Guyton, Slick Rick, Little Brother, Maggie Rogers, Miya Folick, and Uffie. 

Wynne currently splits time between Los Angeles and New York CIty.
